On your stay you may want to learn some basic of the official Indonesian language Bahasa. The manager Putu who is english-speaking has a degree in Bahasa can offer you basic minilessons. Please order in advance. It can be very useful for your stay in Indonesia.
You will often meet people who cant speak any foreign language. If you know some Bahasa-words speaking to them it will often bring you good result and make them respect you for at least trying….

Apa kabar? How are you?-hvordan har du det?
If you get the answer baik,baik-I am fine.-Jeg har det bra. All is good right?
If you get good information,food served etc. : Be polite, smile and be happy and say ..Teramih kasih! It is not so hard is it?
In the morning : Selamat pagi! Godmorgen!
In the afternoon : Selamat sori! God ettermiddag!
In the evening : Selamat malam! God kveld!
When you say goodninght– Selamat tidur! Godnatt!
When you listen to Balinese people you might not understand anything at first. But when they speak to you you might understand some. You get the picture? Yes, balinese speak balinese not bahasa.
In Indonesia there is a varity of 200 languages . Thank God they have Bahasa too. You might learn it in 3 months if you take some lessons….
Here is some more…..Makan means Eat / spise. Aqua is….? =Aqua.Beer is Bintan/øl..the most common brand in Indonesia.
If you order there is a menu almost everywhere. There is no menu on the street-warung(cafe-small restaurant) but this the low budget place. They have very good food. Why? The local people eat there.
Health.As a tourist you need to prepare yourselve to avoid stomach-illness. Get a tourist-stomach-vaccination before you enter the tropics. Be safe and have a good personal hygene. Wash your hands often.
Eat it if it is cooked, fried or peeled. Make sure the water is bottle-water.
